Wegner was fastest in the tight stuff, dropp ing nine po ints ; he wa s the only rider to ke e p it in sin gle d igits at this chec k. Lohma n, Keen and Wille y all romped to lOs here , wh ile eve ryone e ls e s c o re d 12 o r worse. Chec k four was followe d by a nice, le isurely ride to the first ga s a nd a fat reset that put everyone ba ck o n tim e a nd affo rde d most ride rs a break. The third loop would b e a sh af t section (le ss than 20 m iles) tha t would take e veryone back to the ran ch , and it consisted of very tight , little -used terr ain , with a lot of off-camber ridg es th rown in to keep the boys on thei r toes. Keen and Lohman blasted to th e finish the fastest, with e ight p oints dropped. Keen edged Lohman on th e tie brea ker by mere seconds in a battle for second overall.
