sta rt; his holeshots are regular - a nd infuriating to th e competitio n. Whitcraft e a sily took
both the 125cc a nd 250cc B divisions, lea ving
the rest of both packs to fight for second.
Derrick Arledge looked real fast in the 125cc
C contest. He beat out J .P. Cornet for the winBrad Strunk once aga in threw his weighi
around in the Money classes. The F&S Suzuki
rider was unbeatable on the day. winni ng the
16- 24 division a nd both the l25cc a nd 250cc
A classes. Chuck Reed gave St run k so me
serious competition in both A classes. how ev er, and in th e 250cc A class it took a last-lap
pass on Strunk's pa rt to gain the victory over
Reed in the seco nd moto.
Yet a no th e r F&S S uzuk i s tand o ut, Willy
Browning . yawned his wa y th ro ugh th e 85cc
( 12- 15) pack as he put his RM80 on cruise
co ntrol and wa lked off with both wins.
Ro ss Adams went about hi s bu siness as
us ua l in the O pen c lass. He bested Craig Ratai
fo r th e win. wh ile NWS Racing 's Greg Beren th in whisked his VZ250 in for third o ve r all.
J amie A ll en was im pr essive on his Yamaha as he rallied fo r th e win in the he ctic 250cc
C class, beating o ut the ve ry fas t John Co m bs
in the process .

swept all four motos in the Open Pro! Am and
Open Intenmediate classes.
In the fir st Open Pro! Am moto , Rob
Wilshire took the holeshot. ahead of Sten Rasmussen and Scott Szase. When the p ack of
riders dropped i n t o Rattlesnake Gulch ,
Wilshire was still out front. with Ras mussen
second. bu t now T u pa was third an d Szase
was fourth. T upa passed Rasmussen and was
all over Wilshire go ing up the Ca rlsbad Freewa y. At the to p of the hill. Tupa squa red off
Wilshire and took th e lea d. Now Wilshire was
second and Szase wa s thi rd. Tu pa pulled out a
lea d of more th an four seconds. Szase passed
Wilshire before the uphill , and befo re Wilshire
had a chance to breathe, Kirk Chandle r was
on the inside at the top
