They'd fronted a cluster contesting th ird, until Hiq bee broke free, then stayed at the hea d of the fight for th ird . Junge made his move on the final lap, getting by Barnes in tum five and hold ing him off by . 131 of a second at the stripe . Olathe Suzuki's Shane Clarke was by himself in sixth. Seventh through ninth were cov ered by less than .7 of a second with T r ipp Nob les , on t he 4&6 Cy cl es ' Yamaha R· I , narrowl y in fr ont o f Dutchman Racing's Tim Bem isderfer and Hooters' Mike Ciccotto. Though Higbee didn't figure in the fi rst race outcome, Barnes and Junge did, w ith Barnes taking t h i rd and Junge fourth. The pair emerged from a pack of abo ut six ri ders to secure the ir spots in th e second half of the race , and aga in race eac h o t he r to the stripe. It was Barnes by less than a second. CompetitionAccessor ies .c om 's Larry Pegram had been in the mix in the first leg, despite having to sta rt from the back of the grid due after a timing belt failed on his Ducati 996 in qualifying. He made it as far forward as fourth before pitting with a bedeviling glitch in the bike's computer. " It' s some k ind of electrical problem in the computer and we can 't fi x it," said Pegram , who 'd been fa stest in all pra ctic e sess ions, ex ce pt for qu al ifying. "It j ust stopped ru nn ing." Pegram sa id h is firs t h int o f a problem was when "my face hit the bubble. That's wh en it stopped." He was able to sputter back to the pits, but couldn 't fix the bike for the second leg. Arcl ight Racing 's Ac ree was alone in fi fth aft er Pegram went ou t .
