With Bonds now en route to the hospital , the 125 cc Modified Pro class was up for grabs when the second m oto ca m e to the starting lin e. Ca rlso n ended up winning the m o to , but a 16th in t he first m oto wa shed a way a n y cha nce he h ad o f winn in g t he ove rall , instead that honor went to th e Ok lahoman , Mar le y , who ran two co nsistent ra ces , go ing 32 . S econd overa ll we nt to Rid dl e (3 -4). followed by Sho rt (4 -6) and Yamaha rider Bryan McG avran ( 12-2 ). Min i s ta r Stewart s ecured hi s first class c ha m p io n s h ip ea rly Sund ay m orning in the 80cc Stock (14 - 16 ) run -off. Stew art and Ya m a h a r ider Jimmy Nel son went into th e fina l with the two low scores of th e class , but it was Suzuk i rid er Bryan J ohnson , fr om Florida , taking the e a rly lead . Th at, however , d idn 't la st for long , a s Stew a rt s ho t p ast J ohns on o n th e first lap a nd gradually stretch ed o u t h is le ad to the fin ish . Johnson ended up fa lling wh ile run ning second, finishing a disappointing I I tho Nelson , who is no stranger to the w'ind, living in Ne vada, inhe rited s ec o nd and stay ed th ere to th e fini s h . T ak ing th e checkered flag a pprox imat ely five bike lengths beh ind Nelson wa s Yamaha rider Jesse Casillas, and th en c a me Shane Kelly. Despite making the win look easy , Stewart wasn't fully satisfied with h is ride . "I felt a litt le tight," Stewart s aid . "I really wasn't ra iling the turns like I s hould ." Lat er in the day, Stewart wa s ba c k out o n th e tra ck a gain , th is time in the 80 cc Modified ( 14-1 6 ) run -off. On c e again, J ohnson grabbed th e hole sh ot , but Stewa rt wa s qu ick ly m o ving up after a fourth -place getaway. He soon had control of first place and . much like he did in the Stoc k class. steadily pulled away for the win. Casillas finis he d out th e race in second p lac e for second ove ra ll, while th ird in the moto went to Joshua Hansen . Kawasak i ride r Sean Co llier, who we nt into the run -off tied with Stewart, to ok fourth in the moto for third ov erall. "That ra ce I rode a lot better th an I did the first one," Stewart said. "I was a little bit looser. " Stewart c apped of f his wee kend with an oth er im p re s s ive win in th e Supermini (Th ru -1 6 ) final, but he first ha d to get a ro u nd fa st Suzu k i rider Da vi Millsaps . That ac c ompl ish ed , Stewart again steadily pulled away for his third win . "It feels real good now, " said Stew a rt whe n all was s aid a nd don e. "T hat la st ra c e I ju st felt so g ood and had fun out there . That's wha t I usu ally do [ha ve fun] ." When asked wh ich win m e a nt th e most to him , he replied , "The Su per m in is. Because ev eryb od y g et s to race, the 7 - 11 ,12- 13 and 14s ." Th e ra ce for second p la c e in the Supermin is was a na il-b iter, a s fo ur riders mix ed it up in an all-out war for a ll s ix laps. Kawa s a k i r id er Bob Kin iry , Millsaps , Ca s illa s and Coll ier went a t it tooth and nail . with Kiniry doin g e ve ryth ing he could to ke e p the others behind h im after working h is way to the front of the gro up. Rid ing with a badl y scraped up a nd br uised elbow that was in need of stitching b e cau s e of an earlier cra sh in the 80c c Modified class - Kiniry ig no red the pain , forged on a nd succes sfull y held on for second place. Kiniry co u ld h ard ly enjo y the mom ent b e c a us e o f th e pa in his elbow was giving him . "It wa s re a lly hard ," Kin iry said whi le fighting off tears o f pain. "I couldn't re a lly ho ld on landing off th at cue I e big triple and in the corners and hit tin g k ickers , m y arm was a lmost falling off [the handlebars] . It just hurt so bad. I'm like . 'o ne more lap , one m ore lap , I've got to hold o n. My dad brought me a ll the way o ut he re . spent a ll his m on e y , m y mom s pent a ll he r m oney , risk th e ir jo bs, I go tt a do this.' " Kiniry , who ha ils fro m New York , e xp la ined how he injured his e lbow. "I haven 't b e e n rid in g m y 8 0 s really goo d, I had a b ad we ek o n them . I slipped o ut in a come r and la nded on it. I g uess som e rocks just dug right through [the arm] ; it 's pr etty sore right now. Aless i was one of th e bu sie st riders on S u n day , as he had four ru n -o ff m oto s a hea d of h im . His first race wa s the J r. Cycle 60cc Stoc k (9 -1 1) fina l, where Alessi , De nnis J onon a nd Ryan Villo pot o we nt into th e rac e a ll t ied with one poi nt a piece , b ut th at wo u ldn't m a tt e r to t he 11 - ye a r -o ld Aless i, wh o ra n a wa y with the wi n over J on on (second o ve ra ll) a nd Viilopoto (third ove ra ll). Bra nd e n Keala makia and Za ch Osborne rounded out the top five. "I fe lt good out the re," Alessi sa id. "But I couldn 't do the tr iples because of the wind, but 1 could do the double s ." Aless i returned a few motos later for the 80cc Stock (Thru -1 1) run -off. Aless i, h is o lder brother Jeff Alessi, and Mike laPaglia held th e low points going into th is race. but. on ce again, the younger Aless i dom inate d, this time clearing the triple on th e more powerful 80. Jonon , who went into the race with two points , e nded up finis h ing second , which was good enough to give him second ove ral l. T hird in th e moto went to Villopoto , fo llowed by Jeff Alessi and LaPaglia . Mike Ale ssi was ba ck at it a ga in in t he J r. Cy cl e 60c Mo d ified (9- 11) .
