Las Vegas Speedway Las Vegas, Nevada Results : April 27-30 BRIEFLY. •• Suzuki team rider S ha ne Bess was lorced to sit out this year's World Mini due to injuries. He did make it to practice on Thursday. but that's when he bailed hard and decided to sit out the rest of the week. "I don't even remember [the crashl ." Bess said. "People say I just came through the right-hand comer belore the start and they had just watered the track before the practice. Everybody said I started sliding out on the lace and caught a kicker and high-sided. I didn't leel the pain. so that was good I guess. When I woke up. everything was all blurry. I was dizzy and stuff. and I was out 01it. My dad was talking to me and I didn't hear him at all. So Iligured I wa s done for the weekend . " One 01 Suzuki's top Intermediate riders, R.J. Thompson . was also lorced to retire early in the week. He crashed on the lirst lap 01 his first race and injured his shoulder. Bub ba M Stewa rt says he won't be riding 80s lor much Kawasaki Team Green's James M longer. The highly successlul 16-year-old Minicycle racer, says he'll make his 125cc debut at Englishtown . in New Jersey . in October. Hanging out in the pits at the World Minis was FMF/ Hond'IJeam rider C a sey L ytle . Lytle. who finished out the AMAlEA Sports Supercross Series Western Regional 125cc Supercross Series in sixth place . sco ring o ne w in along the way . said he enjoys co ming o ut to the big amateur race s to check out who'll be some 01 the up-and-comers he'll be racing against in the near l uture. Jell Emig's Strategic 3/TheEdgeSports.com semi was on display. as well. Suzuki support rider Kyle Partridge was lorced to watch the Supermini (Thru-f S) run-oil leave the start line without him. While competing in the first Supermini moto. Partridge landed hard 011 a jump and had both arms 01his bike's swingarm break completely in hall . Needless to say. Partridge did not finish the race and had no chance of qualifying lor the linal. It was a sleepless weekend lor a number 01 people who attended the AMAlEA Sports Supercross Series round in Joliet. Illinois. and Sunday's linal at the World Minis in Las Vegas. Some 01 those who burned 'the midnight oil included race announcer Erv Braun . Parts Unlimited's Hylt o n Beatty and photographer Kinney Jones . among others. Jones. whose photos accompany this report. actually drove out to Vegas Thursday and shot practice. caught a flight to Chicago Thursday night. photographed the Supercross Saturday night and was back on the Vegas infield with his cameras by 10:00 a.m. Sunday. Mountain biking legend John Tomac took home to Colorado a pair 01 trophies from the World Minis. but he didn't earn them, his son Eli Tomac did.
