When the green nag was waved for the 125cc Beginner class' dead-engine start, Toby Chevalier took the lead, Followed by Cory Pinneo, Chris Paramore and Myan Spaccarelli. After the completion of lap one on the extended course that utilized both the Saddle Glen and J.B. Memorial tracks, Suzuki·mounted Pinneo was out front, with Peterson slicing his way up from a midpack start to hold down second place, over Chevalier. A lap later, Pinneo encountered problems and was out of the race. Peterson inherited a lead with about fivesecond advantage over Chevalier, who erased this deficit; by the 15-minute mark of the 45minute race, he was all over Peterson's back fender. Chevalier sailed past Peterson on a tricky step-up jump to grab the lead, but Peterson retaliated with a pass of his own a short time later. This trading of the lead. back and forth, would go on for the next 30 minutes, but Peterson and his Boyesen/B&B Cycles/Yamaha of Troy-backed YZ125 were out Front when it counted most: at the checkers. Paramore finished where he started, in third place. Brad Goolsby and Spaccarelli argued over Fourth place during the final 15 minutes of the race, with Spaccarelli coming out on top.
