Results: STORY AND PHOTOS BY JIM P. SANDERSON NEWBURG, PA,MAR. 26 he 2000 Thor/Parts Unlimited Northeast Classic Series got under way at the Doublin Gap Motocross Park in Newburg, Pennsylvania. In only their second year of hosting the first round of the series, the Yentzer family, the promoters, did an excellent job of preparing the track and organizing a great day of racing for all. Some major changes were made to the Doublin track for the 2000 season. New double jumps, a new tabletop and an "Experts only" Supercross-style rhythm section were added to the already technical Doublin Track. Most riders thought the track to be the best Doublin Track to date. More than 650 riders signed up to race the 25 classes slated for the program. When the 250cc B class lined up at the starting gate for their first moto, they were only one rider shy of a full gate; the racing was sure to be fast and furious. The first-moto holeshot honors went to Eddie Hololob. By the halfway point of lap one, the top-five running order was Ross Bartlett, Hololob, Toby Baldauf, Lee Woodward and Frank Pasquale II. By the start of lap three, the top three remained unchanged, with Pasquale 50 APRIL 19. 2000· cue •• moving up a position to fourth and Ryan Tuerck now in fifth place. Not long after entering the top five, Tuerck, charging hard, passed Pasquale for fourth. Bartlett's front tire washed out on an infield turn and he went down, allowing Hololob to take the lead with less than a lap and a half to go. Bartlett managed to remount in second. Baldauf held third. Then Tuerck went down in the same turn that Bartlett had, which allowed Pasquale and Glen Boyesen to move up to fourth and fifth. Bartlett took the lead back just before the white flag signaled the riders that there was one lap to go. Rounding out the top five on the last lap were Hololob, Pasquale, Tuerck and Boyesen. Tuerck managed to get by Pasquale for third on the infield section just before the checkers, relegating Pasquale to fourth. Bartlett took the moto win, followed by Hololob, Tuerck, Pasquale and Boyesen. Hololob managed to make his start in the second 250cc B moto a repeat of the first, nailing another holeshot. TraiJing Hololob through the first turn were Bartlett, William Miller and Tuerck. Bartlett made the pass on Hololob for the lead just before the start of lap two. Just after the start of lap two, Tuerck managed to pass Miller and make it stick. Miller was relegated to fourth. Then Michael Sign e wv s Eddie Hololob (1141 nails the second 250cc B holeshot at Doublin Gap Mx. mund made a pass on Miller for fourth. Greg Walker moved up to fifth just after the start of lap three, dropping Miller to sixth. On the infield section, halfway through lap three, Tuerck passed Hololob for second. Sigmund managed to pass Hololob for third just before the finish. The second 250cc B moto's finishing order was Bartlett, Tuerck, Sigmund, Hololob and Pasquale. Bartlett topped the podium with a perfect 1-) score. Rounding out the 250cc B-class podium were Tuerck and Hololob. Gaylon Dickson, riding Kawasakis again in 2000, nailed the holeshot in the first Over 30 A moto, with Dag Boyesen, Tim Schmelyun, Jeffrey Grove and Marc Tiesler in tow. Boyesen, piloting a Honda for the 2000 season, closed the gap on Dickson by the end of lap two but couldn't quite get close enough to make a pass. Todd Stith passed Tiesler for fifth just after the start of lap three. Boyesen finally got close enough to pass Dickson for the lead about halfway through lap three with an inside-line pass on the long straight on the tree' line at the back of the track. Dickson dropped to second. The third through fifth positions remained unchanged ~n:h Z&, ZDDD [Round 11 50 (4-6): 1. Mark Meiterman (Cob); 2. Jacob Grove (Cob); 3. Stephen Haigley (Cob); 4.
