played the spoiler, posting a 1-2 score for the overa II in the 250cc Pro race on Sunday. Walters also took second overall on Saturday in the 250cc Pro race. After Saturday's performance, it was a sure bet that HoIland would again dominate on Sunday. However, on Sunday morning, Bobby Bonds and company drove in, packing an arsenal of American Honda/FMF / Answer/gOg-backed Honda CRs. Bonds was set to contest the] 25cc, 250cc and 500cc Pro classes, but unfortunately an ugly get-off in the first 250cc Pro moto sent the young hotshoe home early. In round three, the day started off a little shaky for the Moto DeMarini/ Troy Lee Designs/Bill's Pipes-backed Holland. After a midpack start, HoIland had to contest with Walters and Clawson Motorsports/ A- Ride/Shift/ Fox-backed Jeff Pestana until HoIland finally broke clear with the lead. But when the white flag appeared, Walters had kept pace and had HoIland in sight, and as the two came around the last few sections of the track, a lapper created havoc for HoIland. Walters seized the opportunity and beat Holland over the finish line by half of a front wheel. While Holland was left shaking his head in frustration, Walters was all smiles. Riding a White Brothersbacked YZ426, the Sun City resident was appreciative of the win but looking forward to the next moto. ·We had a good race going, and unfortunately for Rusty, but fortunately for me, a rider held up Rusty just enough and I kind of snuck in between them both," said Walters. "Actually, I didn't feel like I was riding all that well, and I need to pick some better lines next moto so I can hopefully get out front early." •Just one of those things, I guess," Holland said of the race. "I don't know why that guy was trying to race with us when he's a lapper. What I need to do is recoup and get my head back in it for the next moto." And Holland did just that, as he ran away for a wire-to-wire victory and the overall. Walters finished a distant second after battling early in the moto with Pestana, who finished a lonely third. Holland again dominated in the 125cc Pro motos, riding uncontested to huge wins. Craig Truglio, aboard a Fox/Merced Powers ports/ George Holland/Scott-backed Kawasaki, put in a good effort in moto one, taking a third-place start and capitalizing on a bobble by second-placed rider Jon Nelson. Truglio held on to finish second, but a fifth in moto two left him with fourth overall. The Fox/Valley Cycle £,. Marine/Works Connection/ Villa Racing Products-backed Nelson, who ran strong both motos, still managed second overall, posting a 4-3 score. Paul Temmerman put in two good rides for third overall.
