FEB. 19-20 Nick Metcalf stormed the Ice Palace. winnin9 three out of four main events at the PACE Ultracross. On his St. Louis Power-Sport/Pro Circuit!Axo RM. Metcalf won both the 125cc and 250cc Expert classes on Saturday and the 250cc Expert class on Sunday; his only loss came en Sunday in the I 25cc Expert class, to Kyle Famell. Metcalf left the Ice Palace S 1725 richer for his weekend of work. When the 15 riders left the line to start the 125cc main on Saturday. Metcalf led the charge into turn one, with Austin Raubs. Rennie Renner. Brandon Bartz and Aaron Dieter following. Metcalf. Raubs and Renner battled for the lead. Bartz fell in the whoops, and Dieter and Dave Cettel moved by. Renner then fell in the tough whoop section, moving Kyle Farnell into fourth after his second-row start. Metcalf started to pull away from Dieter and Oettel at the halfway point. Oettel then bobbled in the whoops. and Farnell and Renner shot past. Metcalf cruised home for an easy win over Dieter and Farnell. Renner and Oettel rounded out the top five. In the 250cc final. Raubs rocketed into the point. but Metcalf slipped by in the whoops on lap one. Bartz, Renner and Vince Devane gave chase. Renner passed Bartz for third. Raubs set his sights on Metcalf and stepped up the pace. only to ny off the track. This gave Metcalf some breathing room, but Renner was closing fast. with Bartz and Farnell following. Renner moved to Metcalf's rear wheel. but time ran out. Metcalf held on for the close win over Renner. Farnell passed Bartz late in the race for the final podium position. Bartz and Raubs rounded out the top five. Metcalf later returned to collect the Dash For Cash money, leading the four-lap race from wire to wire over Raubs and Bartz. In the 125cc main on Sunday, Bartz jumped out to the early lead. with Metcalf. Farnell, Raubs and Dieter following. Bartz fumbled in the whoops. and Metcalf and Farnell new by. For the next four laps. Farnell hounded Metcalf. and then he made an aggressive block-pass that sent Metcalf to the ground. Metcalf remounted quickly. but Bartz and Raubs had gone by. Farnell. on his Suzuki Sports/Performance Engineering/Fox/Oakley machine. held on for the win over Bartz, Raubs. Metcalf and Dieter. In the final race of the weekend. the 250cc main. Metcalf once again put his Suzuki into the lead. with Raubs. Dieter. Bartz and Tony lorusso close behind. Raubs made a mistake. as did Bartz, and Dieter and Lorusso moved into sec· ond and third. Metcalf checked out, securing his third win of the weekend. Dieter rode steadily to claim second. Lorusso took third. Raubs remounted just in front of Bartz to finish fourth.
