The High Court in London, England ruled
in favor of Aprilia in its lawsuit with the
Spice Girls last week. The Spice Girls
were suing Aprilia based on a sponsorship contract the Italian motorcycle company had with the pop group. When the
Spice Girls lost Gen Halliwell (Ginger
Spice) to a singles career, Aprilia felt that
the endorsement contract was no longer
worth the 500,000 British Pounds as part
of the deal had included the launch of the
Spice Scooters, featuring all five girls.
Without Ginger Spice, Aprilia claimed that
the advertisin9 deal and the promotions
were a flop, and that they had lost 1.6
million Pounds in profits. The judge threw
out the Spice Girls claims for unpaid fees
and instead said the band must pay Aprilia compensation.
