LOCAL TALENT Motocross of Marion County Boughton wins the bout By KYLE MYERS REDDICK, FL, FEB. 6 Pro Sports kicked off its 2000 racing season at Motocross of Marion County with round one of the Florida State Championship Series. Just over 400 riders from 11 states and Canada competed, and Sid Boughton posted aI-I tally to sweep the 250cc C class over 20 tough racers. When the gate dropped to start moto one of the 250cc C division. Boughton powered into the point position, with Joe Cape, Brian Nagele, Jarrett Farley and Brad Baldino following. Baldino sailed by Farley on the 80foot tabletop jump as Boughton opened up a three-second advantage over Cape. Baldino then passed Nagele for third, but then he overjumped the tabletop and his front end hit high and slammed on the flat ground. This knocked Baldino out of the race and moved Mark Wesley into fifth. When the lead group received the white flag. Nagele pulled off the track as Farley, Wesley and Lee Steeve slipped by. Boughton held on for the win, over Cape, Farley, Wesley and Steeve. Boughton rocketed out of the gate to grab the second-mota holeshot, with Baldino, Cape, Farley and Nagele in hot pursuit. Nagele fell on the opening lap, and Wesley broke into the top five. Boughton, Baldino and Cape pulled away from the field as Steeve fought his way by Wesley. Positions stayed the same until the last lap, when Steeve passed Farley for fifth. Boughton flew across the finish line with the mota and overall win, and Baldino, Cape, Steeve and Farley rounded out the top five. Suzuki Sports/Performance Engineering/ Oakley/No Fear Davi Millsaps topped the 80cc (7- 11) and Supermini divisions. Millsaps easily won both motos in the 80cc (7-11) class, but he used a 3-1 tally to take the Supermini win. Tyler Moore took double wins in the Pee Wee (7-9) and Pee Wee Open classes, and Tim Eggers did the same in the Over 30 and Over 35 divisions. Results PfW OIL: I. Joson Cosua (Yam): 2.
