line, the front tire rode off the ground. Bennett used the outside berm to slingshot through the whoops ahead of the Over 30 Intermediates. Eric Warrington charged forward, with Andy King in tow, but time ran out and Bennett's lead held for the moto-one win. Among the Over 38 Intermediates, Jeff Roehm had a first-turn inside rut picked out before the whoops, but Kenard Lipscolm and Bc".".'. ••0,. c...,.__ •••••E.II-I',I". Roehm pounded the whoop faces and cleared the last tabletop to pressure Lipscolm. At the bowl turn, Roehm cut underneath. Lipscolm battled back for the lead until, one lap later, Roehm took it back in the bowl and held on for the win. Behind Roehm were Wentz, Mark Jones and Craig McCarley, all battling it out. McCarley went off the track when Jones wouldn't allow McCarley's tire in, but he still claimed second. "I was looking forward to today's race," Jones said afterward. "I like having a good ride with my friends. no matter how I finish. I'm usually in the middle in this class, and if they moved me into the [Over] 45 Intermediates, I'd be smoking them. I'm racing on the '06 fourstroke Yamaha 250. I'll be racing it next year, and I'll add the 290 kit to it. It's smooth and I can flick it around, and it's lighter than my 450 by 20 pounds." Both classes were combined on the same gate for their second moto. 1:J. King led the first two laps. King hit all the best lines and put in some solid laps. He established a small one- to two-second margin, while Roehm was moving his Honda 450 past a fading Chris King and into third place, behind Warrington, who was leading his class. What made this moto more memorable for Warrington was that he outdueled his Intermediate foe, Bennett. The dust was thick. "I knew they were going to drop the gate qUick," King said afterward. "I hoped there was a lot of dust behind me. I mixed up my lines depending on how the turns fit me best. That McCarley goes good, and he passed me, too." "T.J. King knew I was there," McCarley said. "I showed him a wheel, often. We battled it out for four or five laps. I passed him in a back bowl. I came at him from the inside, and I left him a foot and a half - better than six inches." Warrington and Roehm made their way around King on the next lap. Roehm's turn before the whoops wasn't straightened out fast enough, and he lost the back end. "The bike slammed me to the ground," Roehm recounted later. "I hurt my arm and my foot, and I just didn't feel like runnin' anymore. That McCarley's fast and should be moved out of this class." McCarley again charged forward, holding off Andy King. RESULTS ]0+ BEG: I. Scott Pederson; 2. Jeff Haugh; 3. David McCormick. ]0+ NOV: I. David Zamora; 2. Fred Winemiller; 3. What was it? The feeling. the excitement - no less than that felt early on Christmas morning by a young child - the anticipation. The feeling you get while donning your gear, when you roll into the arena from the back door, see the bright lights and the fans in the stands. The exultation of taking the checkered flag in front of everyone. "It" was in abundance in Harrah. A small amount of Magic Potion # I0 was applied sparingly to the dirt inside the OK Corral prior to Saturday night's big showdown. Magic Potion # lOis a secret blend of cutting. shaping, forming, wetting. massaging and packing the racetrack dirt and just a sprinkle of Wet It, the magical dust - to provide a race surface that most the racers loved. Wet It continues to produce miracles on all the dirt tracks this reporter has seen it used on. Wet It is distributed by Scotty Adams. The "It" and the Magic Dust were blended together to form a magical, memorable night. AM P master of ceremonies and motorcycle announcer Dr. Jack Rhodes, along with Jerry Warner from the Oklahoma Sports Park, could barely keep up with the pace of the Indoor Short Track. The pair interviewed race teams in the pit area and on the front straight following practice. Justin Elswick took two wins, starting in the last spot following mechanical woes while leading his qualifying heat. Elswick made it six wins in a row in the series. Hope Robinson beat the boys again. Hope told the crowd that she was voted as the Most Improved Rider for the AMP 2004-05 season. Four-year-old Dalton Misner of Kansas rode his first Indoor event and finished on the podium in third place. Dr. Rhodes asked the young rider if he liked racing, and he answered with a big "Yes!" The crowd loved him and his answers and gave him a well-deserved round of applause. Jeff Bostic won in the Open Pro Singles aboard the JRC Racing Yamaha. Team owner John Calvert brought two professionally prepared Yamahas. one ridden by Anthony Varano and the other by Bostic. Riding with the "Calvert Calvery" was Old Pro Vintage rider Jimmy Long, who now rides a BDI-prepared Yamaha. Long won the Vintage 600cc contest. Long raced for K&N Yamaha in the late I970s.
