first motc, Bagwell took a commanding lead
from the start, and he was able to distance
himself from the competition. John Washburn,
the runner-up in points. rode in for a second-
place finish. Rodger Bennett got a midpack start
and had to work his way up to third at the end.
The second motc again saw Bagwell take an
early lead, but in the early laps, Ammons was
able to work his way up from third to take the
lead, which he held until the end, with Bagwell
chasing him. Adam Lesley was able to take over
third place, while Washburn had to settle for
fourth. Bagwell took the overall win,
maintaining a 25-point lead in the class.
Ammons took second place. Third went to
Washburn, who only holds a four-point
advantage over Ammons.
The hotly contested Over 28 Intermediate
class was no disappointment. Fox-backed
Mitchell Bailey took advantage of the absence of
the class points leader and rode two great
motos to put a I-I overall win into the record
books, putting him in a tie with Derric Swinfard
for the lead in the points chase. Factory
Effex/Spy/RG3/No Toil/Maxxis-backed rider
Mike Tomlinson chased Bailey all day and rode
in for 2-2 finishes to take second place.
Tomlinson lies third in the points and is
desperately trying to make up the 18-point
defiCit, with only two rounds left. Third for the
day was Paul Delaurier, whose 4-3 finishes
edged out Teamsters 399-backed Andre
Brandes (3-4) for the final podium step.
Carter Gurnee put his new Suzuki into a
commanding lead in both 28-35 Pro motos to
take the class win. Todd Mitchell put his
Tag/One/Alloy-backed Suzuki into second with
a 2-2 tally. Don Bisceglia went 3-3 to take third
overall.
In the Over 43 Novice class, Bob Marino
and Chris Coons swapped moto wins and
runner-up finishes, Coons won the first moto,
with Marino behind him, claiming second. Rich
Naganuma placed third. In the second moto,
Marino was determined to take a win: He took
the lead right from the start. Coons gated
midpack and had to battle toward the from,
Marino took the moto win, with Coons making
his way to second by the end. Third in the
