Series awards were presented to winners during the annual awards banquet. which was held at the Appalachian Fairgrounds in November. Series finalists were honored with thousands of dollars in awards, door prizes, raffles, drawings and trophies. Some $377,000 in factory contingencies from Yamaha, Kawasaki, Suzuki and Honda were awarded throughout the series. Some of the best riders in the country participated in the Ultra Series, as 13 rounds of spectacular racing took place in North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee and Virginia. Venues included Muddy Creek Raceway, Camp Coker Motosports, Parker Valley MX, Rolling Hills Cycle Park, Devils Ridge MX, Smoky Mountain MX, Top Gun MX, Birch Creek MX, Pro Sport MX and Sand Hill MK The Ultra Series is famous for its number of loyal followers. An amazing total of 28 riders participated in all 13 rounds of the series, and a grand total of 43 participants competed in 12 of the events. One of those 12 was Kevin Walker, who dominated the 125cc Pro, 250cc Pro and Over 30 Expert classes. Jim Neese gave Walker a run for his money in the 250cc Pro class, which Walker won by a slim six points. Blake Hovis, Chris Osborne and Jason Wiley rounded out the top five championship spots. Four points was all that separated the top two finalists in the 125cc C class. McLaurin Lowder won the championship, followed by Zack Brown, Glenn Balfour, Aaron Whitfield and Seth Trumble. Mike Lucas participated in all 13 rounds of the series to earn the top spot in the 250cc B class, with Geoffrey Nance only a few points behind. A mere two points separated third and fourth: Jonathan Balfour pulled off third place, just ahead of Dale Davis. Davin Price claimed the fifth-place championship trophy. Larry Sparks was deemed the champion in the Over 35 class with an eight-point margin. Rick Wright won second, and Andrew Mitchell took third overall in the series. The closest finish in the Ultra Series was between Keith Tucker and Daniel Linker in the Unlimited 65cc (7-1 I) class, where a one-point advantage earned Tucker the championship. Sam Dayton swept the Over 45 championship by completing 12 rounds of the series, ahead of Thomas Perkins, who attended 10 events to take the second-place title. Persistent Pee Wees in the 5 Icc (7-8) class also earned well-deserved honors, including Brandon Spittle, Brandon Blackwelder, Will McCracken, Tripp Jordan and Addison Blackwell. Kyle Mitchell, Rachel Smith and Nicholas Jones accepted top honors in the 51 cc Shaft (4-8) Stock class. Christopher Pickett picked up the championship in the 5 Icc (4-6) Stock class.
