Championship Points Series Round 10: Swainsboro Fla' Track Too Close To Call By KEN Huno SWAINSBORO, GA, NOV. 12 A s the green flag waved for the final time this season, all the /""\riders - a good turnout - were staged and ready to do batde at this Georgia facility. Several too-close·to-call class championship points races would soon be determined. In 125cc action, it was South Carolina's Tyler Treadaway and Georgia's greatly improved Luis Quinones preparing to square off. with their class championship on the line. Quinones took the win in the 12Scc main; however. by virtue of Treadaway's second-place finish. Treadaway took home the 12Scc season points championship. The Street & Trail Stock class championship also came down to the wire, between Georgia's Tyler Edwards and South Carolina's Ryan Rutland. At the checkered flag, it was "Flyin' Ryan" Rutland with the win. With Edwards finishing back a few places, it appears that this class would end in a tie for the championship. (The tie-breaker determination was not known at press time.) The featured race of the night was the Open Amateur main event. With nine races already in the books, "The Old Pro," Charlie Sabatka Sr., and the Macon young gun, Payton Sassaman, came into this race tied in points. Whichever rider finished ahead of the other would win the class championship. At the start, it was Snipes Racing's Kevin Snipes grabbing the lead early, with Sabatka second, Sassaman third and Davis Racing/Starplate-sponsored Justin Davis in hot purSUit in the fourth position. With three of the fastest Georgia Amateur riders between Davis and the checkered flag, it was apparent that this South Carolina kid had come to join in the fun. Before the halfway nags were shown, Davis had gotten by Snipes for the lead, and he would continue to strengthen that lead to the checkered flag for the win. Due to an alleged violation of an unofficial rule, the Ride Red/Star plates/Davis Racing entry was disqualified. ANYTHING ElSE IS SECONO-BEST1 A DIVISION Of C&L COMPANIES. INC RESULT5 MX OPEN: I.
