Chowchilla Barnburner Fall Series Round 7: Chowchilla fairgrounds Stars in the Barn By KAREN GOULD CHOWCHILLA, CA, NOV. 12 D ound seven of the Chowchilla Barnbumer Fall Series wel- I"comed more than 200 riders to a great night of racing. Thirty-five main events went off without a hitch under the barn roof. As atways, Joe Diaz prepared a well-groomed. lightly-cushioned track for the night's events. Several of the top local riders were competing with one another for cash and trophies. Among this week's riders were Suzuki jockey Jimmy Wood; his fellow Clawson Motorsportssponsored rider Brandon Bergen, who is also helped by Mike Vital; Paul Herman, aboard a Rod Lake/Bill Knight-sponsored bike; Jethro Halbert. riding a Zanotti Racing motorcycle; several Wilson Motorsports-sponsored riders; the Bauman brothers; and so many more. Dusty Nunes showed Christian Hickman and Bronson Bauman the fast way around the track in the 85cc Youth Money class, but Hickman took the money in the 1000c Youth money event. Bergen led Kris Bunch and Michael Avila to the 250cc Money checkers. In the Open Money class, Halbert made his sponsors proud by Winning the most cash, while Chad Foster and Wood rode hard for the second and third spots. The youngest and newest Chowchilla riders are on three wheels while learning to use the throttle and get around the track. Colby Copp, Ryan Nunes and Christina Petz finished one. two, three. The Bauman brothers put on a show every time they are on the track. The 85cc motorcyclists compete with each other fiercely for the front spot. A!so included in that competition are Nunes and Hickman. Evenly matched in skill, these boys work the track and each other hard to be first. This week, Bronson Bauman beat them all for the first time in this class. Briar Bauman came back to take the first spot in the Two-Stroke Open class, and Hickman was first in the IOOcc Stock A event. Joe Jaconetti and Briar Bauman compete week after week as well, in the 100cc modified class, and this week Jaconetti came out on top of this five-rider pack, Seven riders lined up for the 250cc A race. In this one, Ross Gallaher came from the middle of the pack to finish first, followed by Foster and Michael Avila. Brandi Monasmith continues to hone her skills, on this night leading Danielle DiU, Justin Petz and the other 250cc B riders to the finish. By far the most exciting race of the evening was the Open A event. Bergen was in front of the pack going into the first turn, with Wood right beside him, keeping him honest. Behind them, Chris Canepa and Halbert were working for the third spot. Halbert got by Canepa. while Woods worked his way under Bergen. Halbert then picked off Bergen to finish in the second spot. Bergen was third, followed by Canepa and Foster. Four rounds of the Barnburner Fall Series remain, with the competition for series trophies and 2005 number-one-plate awards continuing. Only a few points separate the leaders in several classes. RESULTS TRAINING WHEELS: I. Colby Copp; 2. Ryan Nunes; l. Christina Pen. 50 STK B: I. T~ Beintker. 50 STK C: I. Tyler Lamerson; 2.
