Los Ancianos Motorcycle
Club's Tecate Hare Scrambles were still
wondering who exactly finished the race
and in what order after the conclusion of
the event. But after the results were
sorted out, it was Yamaha's Nathan Kanney coming away with the victory.
After an unremarkable two-hour race
in the morning for the Sportsman classes,
a rider's meeting was held for the Pro, A,
and B riders. Not only would their racing
time be increased to three hours, they
were also informed that an additional two

miles of course had been added to the
IO.2-mile original course that wound its
way around Rancho Santa Veronica. After
a IDO-yard straightaway off the start, the
course dove right into the tight stuff around bushes, up boulder-strewn rock
walls and down boulder-strewn waterfalls.
Most riders did not see third gear until
seven miles into the action. Riders were
finally able to take a breather on the halfmile straightaway that ran through native
oak trees and pastureland. Los Ancianos
officials explained that the new section had
been marked on foot and riders were cautioned to follow course markings carefully
as no trail had been bumed into the undisturbed chaparral by motorcycle.
