Going against the four-stroke grain in Vancouver was Team BooKoo/Holigan Honda Racing's David Vuillemin. After skipping the first round in Toronto to fulfill a commitment he had to compete in the Geneva Supercross. Vuillemin showed up at Vancouver on a Honda CR250R and did pretty well on it. He got a top-three start in the main event and ended up finishing sixth. Vuillemin said that he simply enjoys riding the two-stroke better. Unfortunately for Vuillemin, missing the Toronto round makes him ineligible for World GP points, and negates any chance he had of Winning the Top Privateer award at the end of the series. good tonight. Last week, I felt bad and won. This weekend I felt good and lost, so what are you going to do?" For Ramsey, getting the Vancouver win was a relief after last week's disaster, when he crashed out of the main. "Last week went good all the way up to the point I clipped this guy's [Millsaps] rear wheel," Ramsey said of the Toronto race. "I felt good in the heat race, but it gets crazy out there. The first three laps are pretty messy, and I just happened to pay not enough attention and not notice what he was doing and clipped his wheel, and that was it. I ran back to my bike but the bars were too bent to keep going. We went back home, had a really good week, and kept working on what I was working on. I loved the [Vancouver] track, I like it being demanding. All weekend I just felt better and better. I got a good start, and that helps a lot." Laninovich held on to finish third for the second week in a row. "There're are a lot of faster guys this weekend, so I'm glad I got on the podium tonight," he said. "I'm considered a smooth rider, so I'm trying to hang it out a little more because these guys are such good riders. I still have to work on my fitness and riding, but I think I'm stronger than I was last year at this time. I feel like I'm riding better." Sipes finished about three seconds behind Laninovich for fourth, while Honda's Andrew Short, who got off to a seventh-place start, rounded out the top five overall. eN B.C.
