Rocky Mountain Enduro Circuit Enduro Series Rocky Mountoin Enduro Hare Scrambles Series Round 15/8: Two Rivers Ranch Schmelzle Takes Another One at RMEC Finale By MIKE TRUMBLE MIWKEN, co, NOV. 6 o on Schmelzle captured another win at the I'RMEC series finale held at the Two Rivers Ranch. Schmelzle finished nearly a minute ahead of Four-Stroke A winner Adam Harvey. Bernie Fredrick's clocked time was only nine seconds slower than Harvey's, placing him in third overall. Rounding out the top five were 2SOcc A winner Michael Moen and 200ec A winner Mike Harvey. This crossover event was set up so that the C riders were allowed one untimed practice lap. followed by two separately timed laps. with rest time between them. The final test of the C race was a three-lap moto in which riders received onty a final score. The A and B riders were originally going [0 follow a similar but longer format; however, because of the dangerous late-afternoon sun, race officials elected to allow the A and B riders one practice lap. followed by an eight-lap mota. The expertly laid-out loop was approximately five miles long. The loop started out with a brief and very entertaining motocross section then led riders off of the track and onto the trails. The trail sections started tight and rough. Riders were led through a few trees and up and down countless hills. The course then led to more open straights in a grassy field. After being led down to the water, riders were confronted with many hidden ruts and then corralled back to the mota track briefly; then it was back out to the trails momentarily, followed by one last short stint on the track to ended the lap. The A and B riders were treated to an "extra special" section for their race. Placed shortly after the first motocross section were three small "endurocross" sections. A very tall and narrow rock pile confronted the riders first. Having navigated the rock pile successfully, race participants were faced with an unusual log crossing. with many old tires thrown in for fun. The obstacles causing riders the most trouble. however. were the six PVC pipes laid across the trail. Many riders found themselves stuck among the pipes and not headed in the right direction. Overall B-class honors went to Travis Stichter, who finished an amazing I Ith overall among the Top C honors were awarded to Cody Shafer, whose final score placed him more than four minutes ahead of second-overall Crider and Four-Stroke C winner Dillon Latour. Curtis Miller, Trace Armstrong and Chris Hart rounded out the top five. CN RESULTS AA: I. Ron Schmelzle; 2. Bernie Fredrick; J. Jeremy Henley; "'. Bryan Penny; 5. Jeff Hernandez... 200 A: I.
