"We had some problems as
usual. but we Ft throllgh them,"
Forward said. "We had a broIcsn

The O'Neal Class-50 Team,
made up of jim O'Neal, Rick Gill,
Doug Heil and Kenny Sixbeny, fin-
around the course and finish, while testing
some race parts in the process.
"It was kind of rough, but we got here,"
Lewis said. "As usual, we had a few problems that cost us a lot of time. When I
pulled the shock apart, metal shavings came
out, so I used a spare shock. Our goal was
to finish and that's what we did."
The fourth overall bike was the Class
21-winning team of Tim Morton, jason
Trubey and Salvador Hernandez, who rode
a CRF250X Honda. The team had its problems as well, but still managed to cover the
course in 18 hours, I minute and 38 seconds.
"We lost a tire and had to run on the
rim," Trubey said. "I had it pinned the
whole time and it ran real good. When Igot
off, we were 10 minutes ahead."
Potentially more troublesome was the
high-speed crash suffered by Tim Morton,
which occurred near the San Vicente area,
550 miles in the race.
"I can't remember a whole lot," admitted Morton, who was bleeding and groggy
at the finish.
Morton was dicing with Class-40 rider
jeff Kaplan, and got too much front brake at
speed and crashed hard. Fortunately for
Morton, Kaplan was able to steer between
the downed rider and bike, or it would've
been a lot worse.
Morton suffered a concussion and also
was treated for a lacerated nose.
Kevin johnson, Ryan Gustine and
Anthony Sanchez finished second in Class
21, completing the course in 18 hours, '"
minutes and 20 seconds. l1ley rode a
Yamaha VZ250.

Team O'Neal and CIass-40 riders Jim
O'Neal, jeff Kaplan, Louie Franco. Randy
Morales, Tim Withers and john Om.took first in class with a 25th overall finish.
