November 19, 2005 OFF-ROAD through there, but what can ya say? You get a little fatigued and you're bound to make a mistake." Another rider who made few mistakes all evening was fourth-place finisher Ty Davis. "I was no flash tonight," Davis said. "I was a little nervous, I wasn't riding good, and I was a little mad at myself. Everyone is here and you don't want to ride like a spode. I started riding better and just didn't want to make a mistake. But I can't complain; I did better than last year." Rounding out the top five overall was the Spaniard Cervantes, who had earlier won his heat race. At one point, the World Enduro champ was running as high as third, but a couple of mistakes dropped him back a few spots. As for defending EnduroCross Champion Hughes, he had a miseralble race. But at first, things looked promising for the Suzuki RM250-mounted rider. Earlier in the day, he set the fastest lap time in the qualifiers and then went on to win the first heat race. He even got off to a second-place start in the main, only to go over 20 ~ Maxxis EnduroCross the handlebars in a log section while pursuing Dietrich. He never could rebound after that. 'M, I made a mistake." Hughes said. "I was using the same line but hit [the logs) a little harder than I normally do and went over the bars. It took me a while to get going - I was in a weird position [where he fell). The race isn't that long, and I couldn't wait to see if those guys were going to make a mistake, because there was a lot of good guys up there and not all of them are going to make mistakes. I had to ride hard, but I guess I rode too hard. Myoid mentality of motocross and Supercross came back and I just tried to charge everything instead of being smooth. In that race, I was my worst enemy. I felt I was the fastest on the track, but that's the way it goes. I'm very pissed off that Ididn't win, but that's racing." Hughes ended up ninth.
