Tomlinson was actually chipping away at Pierce's lead. but time ran out. EsqUivel greeted the checkers in third, followed by Gonzalez, Nick Mueller and Stauffer. Pierce shot his Six Six One/FXlTRElO'Nealbacked CRF2S0 out of the gate in moto two to establish the early lead, over Tomlinson, Kasey Morris and EsqUivel. Tomlinson bobbled his way back to fourth on the opening lap, while Esquivel got around Morris for second. The mota was all Pierce's, as he stretched his lead to a comfortable 15 seconds by time the checkers waved.
