On Saturday, Ripple once again pulled the holes hot in the 2S0 main and cruised to an easy flag-to-flag win, while Lacey and Bess settled for second and third, respectively. Saturday's 4S0 race was almost a repeat of Friday's race, with Bess again grabbing the holeshot and leading until Woods made a pass in the whoops. This time, however, Bess held off the hardcharging Lacey for second. When the final points were tallied, Woods, Lacey and Bess were deadlocked in a three-way tie in the championship points standings, as the series heads to St. Charles and The Family Arena for round two of the series next weekend. CN Brief'Y··· Fun Center/PPGlSuzuki's Brad Hagseth came up short on a double dUring Thursday's media-day practice session, injuring his leg and putting him on the sidelines for the time being. The void his injury left on the team gave josh Woods the opening he needed to show his stuff. "I came up short on the Catapult and all my momentum stalled out in the air," Hagseth said. "I have a couple of fractures in the lower part of my tibia. I've got to go see my doctor this week, so I still don't know how long I will be out. Nothing is displaced and, hopefully, it will be a quick turnaround." Several new teams and many old teams with new faces and new equipment filled the pit area when the gates opened for practice on Thursday. One of the most prominent of the new teams was Team Babbitt Kawasaki, headed by former Arenacross champion josh Demuth. Demuth was joined by josh Ripple and Danny Beckett on the team. Demuth was quick to point out that he was happy to be reunited with his father, who will be his mechanic for the year. One of the teams with new faces and new equipment was Team GPS Racing/Storm Lake Honda, managed by George Hodkinson. Last year, the team competed on Suzukis, but showed up in Fort Worth on Hondas. "This year we have jeff Willoh, Brad Modjewski, john Dehn and Kurt McCabe," Hodkinson said. "We picked up support from Storm Lake Honda in Storm Lake, Iowa, and they gave us the support we needed to get a rider like jeff. We decided to go with the BooKoo Series because of schedule. The scheduling will benefit our sponsors. Also, we're based in Minnesota, and there is a round in Minneapolis, which is just an hour from our shop." Team Fun Center/Suzuki/PPG was still intact from last year, with Brad Hagseth and Shane Bess riding; however, the team known last year as Team Shogun Yamaha. which featured josh Demuth and Chad johnson, is now the Sano Systems/PPG/Shogun Team and features riders Tommy Hofmaster and Colt Humphries.
