T
he end ofthe 2005 racing season has come. The last race of
the year was scheduled for October 23, but due to heavy
rains in the area, it was rescheduled for October 30. It was a
"postcard-perfect" fall day at the Warren County track. The sun
was shining. and the temperatures were in the low 60s - perfect
race weather. As usual, the track was in great shape. and the
racing was intense, giving racers plenty of good memories to
hold them over the long winter.
The Women's class has slowly grown over the past few
years at Mapleshade, as Women's racing has all over the
country. One standout racer this year has been Rochester,
Pennsylvania's Kelly Colamarino, who has been riding the
wheels off her Yamaha VZ250F all season, giving the other
women in the class fits. Things were no different on this day, as
Colamarino dominated the competition. She swept both motos
en route to another overall win. New Yorker Jessica Krzemien,
aboard a Kawasaki KX2S0F, did all she could but came up a little
short in the end, finishing second in both motos. One thing is
for sure: The girls in this class have their work cut out for them
in 2006 if they want to beat Colamarino.
There was also some great action in the Over 40 BIC class.
These cagey veteran racers always put on a good show, and
they didn't disappoint on October 30. Warren, Pennsylvania's
Bailey brothers battled back and forth in both motos. Lance, on
his Kawasaki, came out on top in moto one, besting Dewittville,
New York's Wayne Barber and Lance's Honda-mounted
brother Kevin Bailey. The tables were turned in moto two, as
Kevin was the winner. The consistent Barber once again rode
his Suzuki into second, and Lance Bailey finished third. With his
bener finish in the second moto, Kevin got the overall win, with
Barber second and Lance third.
The Barber and Baileys show continued in the Over 30 B
class. The trio once again was the front·running pack. This time,
Kevin won both motos. Lance took second overall with 3-2
finishes. Barber came in behind Lance with 2-4 moto scores.
Suzuki-mounted Ron Grant, also from Warren, took third in the
second moto, beating out Barber for the position.
Special props go out to Waterford, Pennsylvania, native Glen
Pruzenski, who took the overall win in the Beginner 0 class.
This was Pruzenski's first race back after suffering a broken leg
last winter. Although he didn't win any motos, Pruzenski's
consistency paid off, as he finished in the number-two spot in
both motos on his Honda. As a longtime veteran of the class,
Pruzenski proved that he won't be overcome by injury.
With another successful season in the books, look for big
