Champagne Ball &Ride lor Children raises Big Money Bruce Rossmeyer, CEO of I I Harley-Davidson locations, including the world's largest Harley-Davidson dealership, was joined by Aerosmith's Steven Tyler for the second annual "Champagne Ball" on October 14, followed by the 11th annual "Ride for Children" on October 15. Together, the two fund-raising events raised approximately $500,000 to benefit the children of Camp Boggy Creek, who suffer from chronic and/or life-threatening illnesses. The Champagne Ball held at the Hilton in Daytona Beach - emceed by Rossmeyer and hyped-up by Tyler, who circulated the crowd, encouraging charitable donations - played host to a live auction, featuring a Steven Tyler-autographed guitar, which raised $20,000 alone. The celebration continued on Saturday, October IS, at the Hilton with a pre-ride party, kicking off the next day's 50mile ride from the all-new Daytona Harley-Davidson dealership (located at Destination Daytona) to Camp Boggy Creek. Led by Rossmeyer, and attended by Harley-Davidson VIPs and bike builders Arlen Ness, Eddie Trotta, Jesse Rooke, Roland Sands, Johnny Chop and Billy Lane, the "Ride for Children" on Sunday, October 16, attracted over 1500 good-willed riders, who donated between $50 and $300 to participate in the charitable cause. One hundred percent of rider proceeds, which have helped send hundreds of Florida's bravest children and their families to the camp for free at least once a year, will go to benefit Camp Boggy Creek, an amazing facility dedicated to supporting children with chronic or life-threatening illnesses. "There's nothing like this in the world for these kids," said Rossmeyer, who has served on the board since the camp was established in 1990 by legendary actor Paul Newman and retired Army General Norman Schwarzkopf. "We're fortunate to be able to touch the lives of those in need." Rossmeyer was also honored as a founder of the camp last year. Founded in 1996 in Eustis, Florida, Camp Boggy Creek's mission is to enrich the lives of children who have chronic or life-threatening illnesses by creating camping experiences that are memorable, exciting, fun, empowering, physically safe and medically sound. Offering critical support to the parents, guardians and siblings, Camp Boggy Creek is located on 232 acres with 44 Cracker-style buildings, including 16 camper cabins, dining hall, medical center, swim center, stable, little farm, sports and recreation center, arts and crafts building, creative center and theater. To date, more then 27,000 chronically ill children and their family members have experienced the magic of Camp Boggy Creek, all at no cost. Edwards in the classic corporate colors.
