Johnson, who works closely with former 80cc racing great Junior Jackson, was easily the fastest racer on the track in Albany. Fast through the whoops and able to negotiate the lapped riders better than anyone else, Johnson's lead in both main events was never in doubt. "I did do a bit better than I expected," Johnson said. "Junior Uackson] and I worked very hard over the last several months to prepare for the opener here in Albany. I felt great coming in, but had set my goal to just make the podium. Winning both main events was great. Our hard work paid off." Thor/Honda/Tuf Racing's Brock Sellards of Sherodsville, Ohio, appeared to be riding tight in his heat races and early in the main events.
