Johnson, who works closely with former 80cc racing great
Junior Jackson, was easily the fastest racer on the track in Albany.
Fast through the whoops and able to negotiate the lapped riders
better than anyone else, Johnson's lead in both main events was
never in doubt.
"I did do a bit better than I expected," Johnson said. "Junior
Uackson] and I worked very hard over the last several months to
prepare for the opener here in Albany. I felt great coming in, but
had set my goal to just make the podium. Winning both main
events was great. Our hard work paid off."
Thor/Honda/Tuf Racing's Brock Sellards of Sherodsville, Ohio,
appeared to be riding tight in his heat races and early in the main
events. He did, however, provide the best battle for Johnson - a
Saturday night burner in the first five laps that could possibly be a
precursor of the battles to come between the two riders for the
rest of the season.
