2006 250cc Four-Stroke Motocross Shootout
icking the winner
of a shootout can
be hard work.
Okay, okay, we
know what you're
thinking. Yes, it is a cool
job, and yes, we do get to
ride all the manufacturers'
shiny new hardware before
some people even get t~'
see 'em, but sometimes it's
still hard work.
Take this year's crop of 250cc
four-stroke motocrossers, for
example. Of the five bikes in
this class, two of them - the
Honda CRF250R and the
Kawasaki KX250F - are
essentially
all-new
designs, and the Yamaha
YZ250F is heavily revised
over last year's model, with
the YZ almost crossing the
line toward all-new via its
trick new aluminum chassis
and seriously tweaked suspension bits. Released late
in 2005, the KTM 250 SX-F
really never got the chance
to shake off its new luster,
as it wasn't a part of our
shootout last year, but even
so, that didn't stop Austria
from adding even more bark. ,
