Branch also assisted John Britten in the development of the famous Britten V I000 racer of the 19905. In addition, Branch helped formulate rules for AMA Superbike racing and was instrumental in working with the AMft:s racing department for years, refining technical specifications for its various racing classes. Nick Nicholson Nick Nicholson was one of the most versatile racers of the I950s. From desert racing to trials, from road racing to dirt track, hillclimb to enduros, Nicholson was a leading contender in almost every category of two-wheel radng. He scored wins in the famous Catalina Grand Prix and the 100miler at Daytona Beach as well as taking numerous viaOlies in the leading West Coast off-road events of the I950s. Ralph Bemdt Ralph Berndt was a pre-eminent race tuner of the 1950s and '60s. Carroll Resweber won four consecutive AMA Grand National Championships riding Berndt-tuned HarIeyDavidsons. In all, Bemdt machines won 28 AMA Nationals with riders Resweber and George Roeder. Bemdt worked at the Harley-Davidson faaory, but most of his racing activity was done primarily indepenclent of the factory. Scott Russell Scott Russell is best known in the United States for eaming the title of "Mr. Daytona" for winning the Daytona 200 a record-setting fIVe times. In the 19905, the brash, hard-riding Russell practically owned America's most prestigious motorcycle race, taking viaories at Daytona International Speedway in 1992, 1994, I99S, 1997 and 1998. He often won in dominating fashion. Russell was the 1992 AMA Superbike Champion and 1993 World Superbike Champion, both times on Kawasakis. T.C. Christenson T. C. Christenson set the drag-racing world on its ear in the 1970s when he emerged from the local Wisconsin-area drag-racing scene with a double-engined Norton Top Fuel bike named Hogslayer and set numerous motorcycle records. Wearing his trademark mirror sunglasses, Christenson had an aura of coolness that macIe him a fan favorite. He became a drag-racing legend in a golden era of the sport that saw innovations and a seemingly endless stream of wilder drag bikes appearing nearly every weekend. Hogsiayer was an influential motorcycle bridging the gap between motorcycle drag radng's unorganized and amateur days to the professional sport it would become. Tom Cates Tom Cates was an important motorcycle-industry leader who worked with Honda to help establish the company in the United States in its formative years. He was also part of the U.S. management team for BSA, and later, K&N Engineering. He also served as an eleaed member of the Motorcycle Industry Council board for many years.
