It was a three-way battle for the lead in the
Vintage Six Lightweight class, as Thomas
Webster, on the 6S0cc Honda, held off the
400cc Yamahas of Borge Larson and Ryan
Nelson. On one lap, Larson led; then Nelson
came by; Webster split the two; but on the lap
that counted, Larson was there. Behind this
battle, Joe Pomery, on the 3S0cc Yamaha,
outraced Scott McCain to take the Formula
Two-Stoke win, and this earned him the class
championship. Meanwhile, in the Vintage Four
race, BMW-mounted Michael Kelly lost the
lead he'd had from the start as David
Rutherford and Roy Eaton, both on Ducatis,
took the top two spots.
William Mayfield charged into the lead in
the Heavyweight Vintage Seven final on his
1000cc Yamaha, but he had Burroughs, on the
1I00cc Suzuki, right on his back wheel. As this
twosome stretched out their lead over the
field, Doug Glass moved his 900cc Honda into
third. with the 7S0cc Suzuki of James Faber in
fourth. Mayfield continued to lead, with
Burroughs right there. With one lap to go,
Burroughs charged ahead and held on to the
