FIM NORTH AMERICAN ROAD RACE CHAMPIONSHIP
ROUND 5 / AUGUST 28-30, 2020
THE RIDGE MOTORSPORTS PARK / SHELTON, WASHINGTON
P76
Kelly an easy victory from teammate Lu-
cas Silva and Yamaha's Jason Aguilar.
Cameron Petersen pulled a Beaubier
in the Stock 1000 race, walking away to
a gap of over 10 seconds from Michael
Gilbert (Kawasaki) and fellow Kawasaki
rider, Corey Alexander.
The Junior Cup proved once again
to be a Rocco Landers benefit. The
Kawasaki kid dominated both encoun-
ters from fellow Kawasaki riders Sam
Lochoff and Dominic Doyle in race one,
the duo swapping places in race two.
Landers also smashed the field in
the Twins Cup race. In a race that was
red flagged twice due to on-track inci-
dents—without serious injuries—Land-
ers came home more than seven sec-
onds ahead of Yamaha riders Kaleb De
Keyrel and Jason Madama.
ZANETTI DEBUTS
The Ridge saw highly rated
Italian Lorenzo Zanetti join the
MotoAmerica Superbike field,
filling in for the still injured PJ Ja-
cobsen. Zanetti, whose regular
day job is as the official Ducati
Corse tester, took a seventh in
race one but failed to finish race
two due to a mechanical prob-
lem. Still, he was impressed
with his first MotoAmerica
Superbike visit, saying, "My first
MotoAmerica experience was
not too bad. I like the cham-
pionship, it has quite a good
atmosphere, and this is nice.
The championship has good
potential. Also, the team wants
to make some more improve-
ments, but they know what we
need if we are to compete for
the win."
WYMAN PULLS OUT
Kyle Wyman's weekend was
nothing short of a disaster.
The Arizona man crashed hard
on Thursday's pre-race test
session, decimating his Ducati
Panigale V4 R. An overnight
rebuild followed, but mechani-
cal gremlins prevented him from
turning a lap and thus he missed
Superpole and had to start from
last in both races. He was then
involved in a multi-bike pile-up in
race one, wrecking his second
bike. With no spares left, he de-
cided to pull out of the meeting.
Briefly...
Lorenzo Zanetti
made his
MotoAmerica
debut for the
Celtic HSBK
Racing Ducati
team. The current
Ducati Corse
test rider made a
good showing in
Washington, taking
seventh in race
one but suffering
mechanical
problems in race
two and recording
a DNF. He hopes to
be back before the
season is out.
