MOTOCROSS LUCAS OIL AMA PRO MOTOCROSS CHAMPIONSHIP ROUND 3/ AUGUST 29, 2020 IRONMAN RACEWAY / CRAWFORDSVILLE, INDIANA P66 Saturday. "I've just been strug- gling here lately but during the week I just keep my head down and keep pushing. Today is what it's all about so you will see me up here more often." Jett Lawrence would have his own career-best fifth overall, with 4-5 finishes, as second-moto runner Justin Cooper was fourth overall with an 8-2 tally, his best effort since starting the series, as he suffered a broken hand shortly after SX ended. The series now moves to Buchanan, Michigan for another doubleheader, this time at Red Bud, over the Labor Day holiday weekend. 2020 schedule that was able to go on its initial date, though before the Covid-19 crisis hit it was slated to be the final round of the series. Instead, it marked the third race of a long delayed and now-abbreviated nine-round schedule. The series now moves to Michigan for another doubleheader, this time a first-ever Friday/Monday holiday weekend stand at the popular RedBud in Buchanan, normally the centerpiece of the series, only on July Fourth weekend. No spectators will be allowed at either round, though ama- teur racers and their families that are participating in the Saturday/Sunday recreational competitions will be able to attend both pro events. IRONMAN NOTES: Dean Wilson (8-8, 450MX) had a big crash in practice, leaving him bruised and sore for both 450MX motos... RJ Hampshire (5-17, 250MX) also crashed hard in practice and again in both 250MX motos... Jalek Swoll (Rockstar Energy Husqvarna) is still recovering from a concussion and did not race, same for his 250MX-class team- mate Michael Mosiman... Darian Sanayei also missed the Ironman with a shoulder injury that he suf- fered at round one; he hopes to be back Friday at RedBud... Hunter Lawrence (19-11, 250MX) is also dealing with a shoulder injury which slowed his progress at the Ironman. Briefly... If Justin Barcia can consistently get better starts and stay out of trouble, watch out! From fifth place, he reeled in Tomac in the second moto and was giving the defending champ serious pressure when the checkered flag came out. A 12th- place start in moto one resulted in a sixth for fourth overall.
