~---:-;---Happe-----'-------ningS~in Mo-:-----torcyc~ling St:and By Your Man As everyone in racing knows, the one guy you can always depend on to be your biggest fan and supporter is your mechanic. Mike Godin was Vincent Haskovec's mechanic on the Hooter.; Suzuki team, before Haskovec left this season to join the EMGO M4 Suzuki team. After Haskovec's career-ending injury at Infineon Raceway in Sonoma, California, Godin wanted to pay tribute to his friend Haskovec and his fir.;t win in the Super.;tock race in May of 2003 at Road Atlanta; that was also Godin's fir.;t win as a mechanic. The date in Roman numerals is the date of that fir.;t AMA win at Road Atlanta. It's hard to find someone in the paddock that "Czecher" (Haskovec) hasn't had an impact on, but this takes the cake. Here is one that is sure to make all the tree-hugger environmentalists out there lose their minds. This old Moto Guzzi moped and tree have been embracing each other almost as one since the bike was leaned against the tree almost 20 year.; ago. Whoever said that motorcycles or mopeds and Mother Nature can't live in harmony? []nline Helping []utdoor5 A popular online international motocross radio show made a donation to protect off-road access to public lands. The Moto Show (TMS), an affiliate of World Talk Radio, donated $4000 dollar.; to the BlueRibbon Coalition (BRC), a national trail-based recreation group. BRC has been a strategic partner with TMS for over a year now. Don Amador from the BRC regularly makes an appearance on TMS to inform the program's large listener base about the issues that currently threaten access to many of the nation's riding areas. They've played an integral part in gaining support for the BRC from the motocross industry. Eric Elrod, executive producer and host of The Moto Show and president of TMS-Parts.com, said: "TMS cares deeply about the sport of motocross and other forms of responsible recreation that utilize public and private lands. These lands are increasingly threatened by anti-access organizations. Our sport, as well as others, would disappear without access to these lands." Elrod continued: "This money comes from the sale of our 'OS CRF4S0 that we purchased for Michael Young (782) for the 'OS Supercross season. Michael Young did well enough through the 'OS racing season to receive a national number, 83. We're proud of him and his results and will again be sponsoring him in the '06 Supercross season. "TMS stepped up to the plate one year ago by creating www.TMS-Parts.com. an online motorcycle-parts store that donates its profits to the Asterisk Mobile Medical Center (AMMC) - the traveling onsite medical facility for Supercross and the U.S. Motocross Nationals - and allows its supplier.; to share their profits in support of the AMMC," Elrod stated. "TMS believes this donation to BRC complements our efforts for the AMMC. This donation is not a selfless act; it's about keeping the sport alive. BRC is out there, fighting for all of us. We are deeply appreciative of their efforts, and we hope our contribution makes a real difference and sets an example for others to follow," Elrod concluded. 92 NOVEMBER 2, 2005 • CYCLE NEWS
