make it more vintage-friendly, and it showed, as the day went
off with battles in every class.
The Pre-I 990 Trophy class saw its largest turnout ever, with
12 entrants on the line. Pierre Debus went I-Ion the day to
win the class. Chris McDonald took second overall on his RM,
with Benny Carfaro in third on his YZ.
McDonald moved up one spot when he tallied a perfect
score in the Evolution Two Open A class. Mick Oliver returned
from recent foot surgery to take the second spot, and Matt
Kretchmer came home third on his Honda.
The Evolution Two Open B win was a hard-fought one
for yz jockey Jonathan Sherr. Jim Cecil battled him on his
RM in both matos, but Sherr took home the overall with a
I-I score.
On the track at the same time, the Evo One Open B class
was won by RM pilot Russell Polonis. He was battling with the
Eva 2 bikes as well as Charlie Oxford and Mark Snider in his
own class.
The Youth and Mini classes were a large draw again; the
Youth (12-1 S) class had seven riders. Cody Polonis matched his
rather's win tally by taking the I-I score. There were good
battles in the entire class, with Alex Aderhold taking second and
Max Soloman coming back from a sixth in the first mota to take
second in the next race and third overall.
Trace Kipp won the Youth Mini contest, while Adam
Aderhold took the Youth Mini A class on his KX.
The Open Support group was another large class, with 13
entries. Robert Buttitta took the overall with a I-I score on an
RM 125! However, it took a last-lap pass on Dave Ellis to make
that happen. Ellis led the majority of the race until Buttitta got
around him in the back section coming to the checkered flag.
Debus came back from a bad start to take third in the mota and
third overall.
The series now takes some time off for the final AHRMA
Vintage National and returns to action at Hard Rock Cycle Park
on November 27.
