In the first heat race, National number 67, Mike Hacker, back from a recent injury, took the SuperTrapp Honda to the checkered nag for the win. Harley-Davidson of Macon's Tadpole Pulliam placed second. Scott Powersports-backed National number 88, Raun Wood, led heat two from start to finish. National number 72, Tim Eades, was second on the Reggie Ames Custom Homes Rota><. SHC Racing's Raben Lewis, still wearing a wrist bandage from an earlier crash at Barbersville in March, grabbed the lead on lap four of the third heat and held on for the win. Jus-tin Davis, on the Lee Blackmon/Starplates By Fuzzy Honda, was closing in fast, but scored second. The final heat, with a time of 3:14.07, would prove to be the fastest by four seconds, as the Verse Brow-backed National number 32, Garth Brow, took the win and the pole starting position. Stokes Automotive's Bubba Seyle was second. In the first semi, ASK Powersports' Tom McGrane Jr. grabbed the top spot. In semi two, Chase Sconyers grabbed the lead on lap two and took it to the checkered flag for the win. The field was now set, and the top 18 qualifiers were ready to do battle from a three-row start in this 20-lap final. When the green light came on, it was Brow shooting out front early, with Eades second, Seyle third, Davis fourth and Brett Sassaman rounding out the top five. Setting a blistering pace, Brow continued to build his lead, while the next three riders battled hard (or the runner-up pOSition. Eades held tight to the low groove, as Seyle and Davis tried everything to get by, but couldn't. At the finish, it was the "Old Pro," Brow, coasting to victory. Eades was second, with Seyle third, Davis fourth and Sassaman fifth. In Victory Circle, Brow was all smiles as he got the big trophy and a big hug from Matt Smoak's daughter Caitlin. It was difficult to determine whether Brow was more excited about the win, the trophy, or the hug. In other racing action, the 16-rider,12-lap Open Amateur final was set (rom two qualifying heats. At the start, it was Davis Racing's Justin Davis gening a great start and the lead. Charlie Sabatka ran second, Peyton Sassaman was third and PBW Racing's Kevin Snipes was fourth. While those three banled one another, Davis was out franc setting a fast pace on the HKYO Honda. At the finish, it was Davis with the win, Sassaman with second and Snipes in third. The record of 55 entries from the first round was topped when 65 riders signed up for this round. QuickTrack is a new track for the series, but several of the regulars had been visiting the facility for practice sessions prior to the race. The staff at QuickTrack had the course in great shape for the day. The layout had been modified only slightly to CYCLE NEWS • NOVEMBER 2,2005 S7
