one point. George Chamarro took the race-four win, over
Scott Williams on his small-bore Kawasaki.
"Williams was on me like a rabid dog," said Chamarro. "I
could hear his bike pinned all the time. My Yamaha 450 just
outpulled him on the big hills."
Race five started late in the day, which meant the sunshine
was slanting right into the riders' helmets. The sun also would
shine on Lewistown Honda-sponsored Scot Maxwell. as he
put his CRF450 into an early lead and then ran away from the
pack (or his second win of the day. The win gave Maxwell the
overall victory by one point over Williams, and by two points
over Chamarro.
"Wow, I really didn't expect this," Maxwell admitted. "My
bike ran great, and I just tried to ride smooth. It was close
racing all day, and those other guys were going good, too, but I
am happy to win. Wow!"
