The 2005 motocross season at Mapleshade is coming to a close, with only two more races remaining on the schedule. Riders arrived on a brisk morning to find the course in perfect shape once again, thanks to the hard work of the Lawson family. The clouds kept the sun at bay for much of the afternoon, helping to keep some of the moisture in the track. Temperatures only got up into the low 50s, making it a pretty comfortable day to race. The highlight of the day was the Silver Cup trophies given out to all of the class winners. Northeast Pennsylvania's Dustin Charcalla was the man of the day in the 125cc B class. Charcaila put his Yamaha out in front early on in the first mota, with David Wilson on his tail. Charcalla held on for the win, with Honda riders Wilson and Jeff Caldwell finishing behind him, in that order. Mota two looked a lot like the first one, with CharcaJla once again out in front. This time it was Honda rider Michael Rapp trying to reel in Charcalla. In the end, Charcalla cruised in for the win, Rapp held on for second, and Wilson took third. Of course, Charcalla took the overall win, with David Wilson 800-331 -5706 www.rnotorcycleshows.com second and Rapp third. Charcalla was also entered in the Collegeboy class. While he didn't win that class, he did finish runner-up to Honda-mounted Tim Scouten, an A-class rider. Dan Lorenzo finished third on his Yamaha in this hotly contested class. The Beginner D class provides a place for new racers to hone their skills before hitting the ranks of the tougher C classes. With 10 competitors signed up, there was sure to be some good racing, and our rookies didn't let us down. Michael Tibbens Jr. proved to be a force to be reckoned With. On his Kawasaki. he managed to win both motos on the day. Casey Anderson, also riding a Kawasaki, finished runner-up in both heats, and Brandon McGahen rode his Honda into third-place finishes both times out. Tibbens took the top step on the podium, with Anderson getting the silver and McGahen taking the bronze. The hard work and dedication put into this northwestern Pennsylvania facility will finally be recognized on October 16. Cycle News is perfect for everyone.
