October i!5. 1995 -:-':""1"iiiii_~ Scott Parker was featured on the cover I0 years ago for l winning the Del Mar Mile. It was his 70th career win ... Phil Lawrence Yamaha would like to see young Australian 2S0cc GP racer Casey Stoner in MotoGP next year, according to his team manager and personal Conrinued from poge 11 ing safer, and to hear from riders who have hit soft barriers and walked away. On the other hand, the work is never done, and no matter how many feet of soft barriers we deploy, we've seen this year that it is never enough. All we can do is continue to do our best and, with AMA Pro Racing's help, get as much out there as we can." The new sections will help replace sections of soft barrier that are damaged beyond repair and add additional footage to AMA Pro Racing's inventory. While AMA Pro Racing continues to transport and deploy soft barriers, a primary objective is to have individual tracks continue to add to their inventory of safety barrier. "More and more tracks are adding additional footage of soft barrier," said Hugh Fleming, AMA Pro Racing's director of safety and logistics. "When that happens, we can use AHA Pro Racing's inventory as a supplement. It's also important to obtain new barrier on an ongoing basis to replace barrier that has reached the end of its usable lifespan." manager Lucio Cecchinello. "Yamaha give an offer to Casey [Stoner1and said to Casey, 'Somehow we will find a position in one of our satellite teams,'" Cecchinello said. ''And also Yamaha approach me and said, 'Look, Lucio, we know that you Casey Staner to MotoGP? Time will tell. manage Casey since many years, you bring up this rider since 125, anyway from the beginning. We respect your job, and for that reason we want also to give you the chance to carry out this project, if you find the budget.' That is the point. I didn't find the budget until now, because to run a MotoGP team is a huge budget, much more than 250. That's why I'm working very hard and pushing my sponsors to help me. At the moment I can say that 50 percent I can carry out this project and 50 percent I cannot carry out. I will know something more in two weeks." The plan is for a one-rider team, which suits Cecchinella just fine. "We talk about one bike and one rider, and for me, to be honest, for the first year, anyway, would be enough," Cecchinello said. "Even in the future, if one day in the future I move to MotoGp, it would be enough to organize something with one bike, because it's so high-cost, and even it's so difficult and new for me, and I really believe it's much better to carry out one project with one bike. Maybe after one or two years or knowledge improve the organization with two bikes." Cecchinello said Stoner's dream was to work with fellow Australian and star maker Jeremy Burgess, Valentino Rossi's crew chief. "Well, to be honest, we perfectly know that the goal of Casey is to be a factory MotoGP rider, and in particular his dream is to work with Jeremy Burgess, which is a very good technician who won many, many titles," he said. "So it looks that Valentino can move in 2007, I really believe that maybe Casey don't have to miss this train. To don't miss this train, I believe it's really good if he do one year of practice in MotoGp, then gets all the knowledge necessary and in 2007 switch to the factory team and be the rider, the factory rider of Yamaha. And I really believe this is good for his career, and I'm really not stopping any way this kind of great potential he has, great opportunity he has. I will not stop. I was a rider, and I know a happy rider is also a fast rider. Stoner wasn't as clear on his future as his manager was. "We have spoken to Yamaha, but nothing has happened or gone forward," Stoner said at Phillip Island. "We've just been talking maybe for the future, just to stay in contact basically, and then see what happens if I do well in the 250s. I'm not looking for a move to MotoGP next year, but if the right one came along, I'd say I'd go - I'd be stupid not to. Unless the right one does come along, then I'd rather stay in a good 250 team and try to do better." Stoner added: "It would be nice, but nothing at this stage is happening. It would be a dream come true if it did." Henny Ray Abrams to won Supercross races in Guadalajara and Monterrey, Mexico... We reported that Jeff Emig left Yamaha and officially signed a one-year contract with Kawasaki .. Aaron Slight and Carl Fogarty traded moto wins at the World Superbike in Indonesia...
