n the eve of the 14th
round of the season, new
five-time premier-class
World Champion Valentino Rossi admitted that
motivation for this race might not be
easy to find - his main goal having been
achieved. But he is a truly great racer,
and he still had enough motivation (and a
bit of help from a couple of Honda hotheads) to fight tooth and nail for his 10th
win of the year at Qatar.
It was sweet revenge for his problems
at the desert race last year - at which he
was dumped to the back of the grid, and
then crashed in a mad charge toward the
front. And yet more revenge on Honda,
holding its breath on 598 victories in its
effort to win a 600th. Instead, Honda didn't win a single race all day.
Rossi's 52nd premier-class win brings
him within two races of Mick Doohan's
tally, with three more chances this year
