CA Turlock, CA 74 oaOBER 12,2005 • CYCLE NEWS cloudy day with rain threatening and tem.r\peratures in the upper 70s greeted competitors at Mapleshade. The rain held off until after all 19 motos had been run, and track conditions were superb. The racers got to run the entire course, including everyone's favorite uphill section with its big-air ski jump. Despite both the Pittsburgh Steelers and Buffalo Bills haVing games, the turnout was good, with several racers on hand fighting for season points. As a special treat, Freestyle Motocross rider Garry Robertson set up his ramps in the rear of the parking lot and put on a show for the crowd. Robertson and several others were getting in a little practice before heading over to KUwcUt to entertain the troops. Brock Foley and Tim Scouten put on qUite a show in the 125cc A class. In the first moto, Scouten got out in front early on his Honda, with Yamaha jockeys Foley and Brett Loomis in tow. The Pleasantville, Pennsylvania, native wasn't about to settle for playing second fiddle, though, as Foley stayed right with Scouten for the first two laps. On lap three, Foley made his move and got around the Spartansburg, Pennsylvania, resident. Scouten fought like a mother bear protecting her cubs and showed the young Foley a wheel in every corner, but Foley crossed the finish line first, with a bloody Scouten second and Loomis third. (While battling with Foley, Scouten took ,.. a rock to the nose and was covered from head to toe in blood. How he managed to finish the race in this condition, let alone keep battling for the lead, is unknown, but this kid proved that he is tough as nails.) In the second moto, Foley got the holeshot and took off with the early lead. Scouten was right behind him, and the pair began to do bailie. Foley had the edge in the power department, as he was able to pull away from Scouten in the uphill sections. Scouten would catch up with Foley in the corners, but in the end, Foley held him off and took the moto win. Scouten finished second, and Groveland, New York's Loomis took third. With identical finishes in both motos, the overall Victory went to Foley, with Scouten second and Loomis third. Foley was also the winner of the Schoolboy class, He won both motos. with Ricky Krishart finishing second and Stephen Ginkel pladng third both times out. The next race to be held at Mapleshade will be on October 9. It is Silver Cup Day, with huge silver cup trophies going to all class winners. With only three more races left, look for some great action as racers try their best to move up in the points. Also, October 16 is the final round of the AMA District 5 State Championship Series. and it will be held at Mapleshade. eN RlSULTS 5 I OIL·IN): I. Johnny Rayeski (Yam): 2.
