DNF at round six didn't sit well with Jimmy Jarrett. So, he had a plan for round seven of the
Parts Unlimited Off-Road Motorcycle and ATV
National Series at Spring Creek MX Park: "I
wanted to get away early," he said. "I knew [the
course] was tight, and I knew if I could get a little bit of time
on them, they wouldn't be able to see me, and I could keep
a gap on them. And that's what happened. It was awesome."
Indeed, the Andrews Cycles/Kenda/Moose-sponsored
RM250 racer went wire to wire, leading from the first turn to
the final turn, completing eight laps of a challenging, varied
course in 2 hours, 33 minutes and B seconds under nearly
perfect conditions.
Series rival Justin Williamson, who went into the Spring
Creek round just two points behind leader Jarrett in the
series standings, ended up second on a bike that he was
forced to borrow when both his race bikes failed just before
the start.
By finishing ahead of Williamson, Jarrett managed to
stretch out his lead in the standings to seven points.
KTM-mounted Shane Watts put in another steady and
speedy performance to round out the podium finishers. He
finished just one second behind Williamson.
Jarrett got the holeshot, with Watts, Cole Calkins, Kyle
Nelson, Brian Garrahan and Chris Bach slotting themselves
right behind as they hit the MX track section.
