AMA SUPERBIKE
Hodgson passed Zemke in the backstraight kink to take over third, then he
pulled away.
. '" closed to him, and I definitely had a
top-speed advantage, which was quite
nice," Hodgson said. "I just drafted him,
and I just tumed in to go undemeath him,
and then he sort of came in, so it was a bit
closer than I would have liked it to have
been. But he was good on the brakes, and
he was good everywhere else, and I couldn't pass him anywhere else. I had no option
really but to pass him there."
Zemke lost fourth to Mladin on the
penultimate lap, with the champion thinking of making a run at Hodgson in third.
"I seen Neil [Hodgson] up there and
had about plus-eight with 10
to go, and I thought I'd
try and make a
move and get

bit," he said. "But there was a championship there, too, so take it a little bit easy.
It was a good race. Thought I might get up
there, but it was good fun."
Hodgson put his third to Mladin not
having to win. And he wasn't happy with
the way the season ended.
"It's been frustrating the last sort of
three rounds," Hodgson said at the completion of his first AMA season. "laguna
onwards, obviously that was a disaster.
Then I couldn't ride around Mid-Ohio to
save my life. I was like a novice, really. And
then VIR was a struggle, and then I've come
here, and I really like the circuit here. I'd
say it's probably the best, for me,
the best of the year for a fun track
to ride."
