and took his first-ever Grand Prix race win in the second moto after a battle with Cairoli. The 16-year-old rider looked determined all weekend. Australian Andrew McFarlane was riding in pain after a big get-off in Saturday qualification. He was happy, however, with his third-position overall despite riding through a painful toe injury. But the Aussie saw his points lead again reduced, and he now leads Cairoli by just one point. eN l.oKET CIRCUIT l.oKET, CzEcH REPuBuc Rnws: AUGUST 7, 2005 (ROUOlD 13 Of 17) of riders, including KTM's Steve Ramon, Pichon and Everts. The eight-time World champ Everts began a long haul through the pack from almost dead last in a prolonged rainfall that caused the track to get rougher and even more technical. His 40-minute charge was rewarded with fourth position on the final lap, as he dove past Honda rider Ken De Dijcker. Strijbos, however, clinched his firstever Grand Prix via a strong sprint in the second moto. Everts' title rival, Coppins, who finished third in moto one, was bumped back to third on the podium. Coppins was happy with third, although he was disappointed to lose more points to Everts in the championship battle. For Coppins, the opening moto proved to be a good one, although a first-corner incident cost him any chance of leading the riders through the opening lap. Once he got his speed, he moved through the pack and closed in on the two front-runners - Everts and Pichon. In the second moto, Coppins looked likely to take the overall, as he led early. A problem, however, with his goggles and another near crash saw him lose out to Strijbos and Everts for the overall. The New Zealander was, once again, riding with great speed and was so close to being the victor. In the MX2 division, Antonio Cairoli swept to his fifth victory of the season. The Sicilian, who confirmed on Saturday that he will stay with the De Carli team for another two seasons, ran away to victory in the first moto and collected a safe runner-up spot in the second moto, behind Kawasaki rider Christophe Pourcel, confirming his second consecutive overall triumph. French sensation Pourcel, of the Freeman Kawasaki team, finished second MXI MOTO I: I. Stefan Everts (Yam); 2. Mickael Pichon (Hon); 3. Josh Coppins (Hon); 4. Kevin Strijbos (5uz); 5.
