Preston, who did not make himself available
for comment afterward, with fourth overall.
For Fonseca, it was his second podium
in a row after finishing third at Washougal
two weeks before.
In the meantime, Wey claimed one of
his best finishes in awhile, posting a very
consistent 5-5 finish for fifth overall.
"The opportunity for a podium was
there today, but in the second moto, I
didn't get the start I needed," Wey said. "I
didn't get a very good start in the first
moto, either, but I passed four or five guys
through those sand whoops, so I was
pumped about that. The line smoothed
out for the second moto, so that advantage wasn't there for me. I've been
improving every week, and I feel good
about·today. It would be nice to go home
with a podium, but 5-5 is one of my best
finishes all year."
Vuillemin ended the day with sixth
overall after 8-4 moto finishes, and sentimental favorite John Dowd, riding a priva-
