AMA li!5cc National Motocross Series Presented by FMF / long in coming. Andrew Short notched hi, first outdoor overall victory in the 125cc class. he 250cc class may be the premier division at the Nationals, but the 24, I52 fans that attended this year's Spring Creek National left talking about the exciting racing in the 125cc class and, in particular, the performance put in by Team Honda's Andrew Short, who nailed his first outdoor victory in dominating fashion, going I-I for the overall. He also became the sixth different I25cc-c1ass winner this year. And if you add Ryan Mills' and josh Grant's moto wins, that's eight different riders in nine races that have won a moto. In stark contrast, the 250cc class has had just three different moto winners and one overall winner all year. Living up to its wild and wooly reputation in the first moto, a first-turn pileup collected round-seven winner Broc Hepler and also took out rookie sensation jason Lawrence (front brake lever). T Managing to avoid the carnage were Short, KTM's Mike Alessi and a couple of Monster Energy/Pro Circuit/Kawasaki racers, along with three of the four guys from the Amsoil/Factory Connection/ Chaparral/Honda team - one of which was josh Grant, who ended up third overall, behind Alessi. So with Hepler, who has been one of the most consistent of the fastest riders lately, out of the picture, Honda factory racer Short and three Honda support racers (Grant, Billy Laninovich and Thomas Hahn) battled with KTM's Alessi and Mills for the top five spots. As the field broke away, a couple of the racers faded and Monster Energy/Pro Circuit/Kawasaki's Matt Walker put on an excellent charge up to the front. But Short would use his size and power to his advantage, blitzing the legendary Millville whoops with a precision that few could come close to matching on
