The Screamin' Eagle Ultra Classic Electra Glide in Black merald/Majestic Green Pearl. --8 x· 18-inch, rear, forged-aluminum, Reactor, five-spoke wheel (the kit is an optional accessory on the standard V-Rod). What impressed me the most about the Screamin' Eagle V-Rod's fat-tire setup is that it didn't affect the handling characteristics of the bike like some other "fat-tire" bikes I've ridden. The Screamin' Eagle V-Rod has a long list of chrome and custom goodies that don't come on the standard bike, in addition to the three custom paint schemes, which include Electric Orange and Black, Scarlet Red Pearl and Charcoal Slate, and Chrome Yellow Pearl and Platinum Pearl. The frames on the Screamin' Eagle V-Rod are powder-coated to match. The last of the three road-going CVO models is the Screamin' Eagle Fat Boy. This Softail makes some serious power from the Screamin' Eagle 103 Stroker Twin Cam motor, the same as in the Ultra Classic Electra Glide. Putting the power to the ground is a new Dunlop 200/55R-17 rear.tire (up from 150mm) mounted on a 6 x 17-inch, forged-aluminum Road Winder wheel. To make room for the fat rear tire, the Softail frame tails are widened, as are the rear fender and fender strut covers. The front tire got fat as well and now features a 140/75-17 tire on a matching forged-aluminum Road Winder wheel. Like the other two bikes in the CVO line, the Screamin' Eagle Fat Boy has more chrome and accessory parts thrown at it than you can shake a stick at and comes standard with a factory-installed security/alarm system. The Screamin' Eagle Fat Boy will be available in three color combinations: Nebula Yellow Pearl and Cobalt Blue, Autumn Haze and Abyss Blue, and Canyon Copper and Concord Purple. If you are into cruisers, HarleyDavidson has a bike for you. With over 35 models in its lineup, there should be something to satisfy almost any cruising rider. And the answer to the question in the headline is obviously, no... Are you kidding me? Riding a Harley on many of Colorado's beautiful mountain roads comes close, but still no cigar. eN SCREAMIN' EAGLE V-liD DESTRIYEI All of this, of course, is powered by a seriously beefed-up motor. The fuelinjected Screamin' Eagle 103 Stroker Twin Cam engine (1690cc, Harley's biggest) produces over 100 ft.-Ibs. of torque at 4000 rpm. High-performance cams, cylinder heads, big-bore cylinders, stroker flywheel and high-performance pistons give the bike some serious get-up-and-go, even in Colorado's high altitude. The power is easy to put to the ground with the highperformance hydraulic clutch, and once up to speed, you can set the cruise control and relax. From an amenities standpoint, the Screamin' Eagle Ultra Classic Electra Glide is the cream of the crop. With features like the dual-controlled, leather, heated touring seats and heated handgrips; and leather, lumbarsupport passenger backrest (adjustable forward and aft), both rider and passenger should always arrive in comfort. The bike features hard saddlebags in addition to a new, leather-covered Tour-Pak with LED interior lighting. Liners for both the Tour-Pak and saddlebags are included. The new Harman/Kardon audio system, with all the bells and whistles, is included on the Screamin' Eagle Ultra Classic Electra Glide. The XM satellite radio is standard, as are the CB, Intercom, single-disc CD/MP3 player, rear speakers and amplifier. Other standard features are the integral garage-door opener, factory-installed security system and a evo- 32 embroidered storage cover. When it comes to styling, the Screamin' Eagle Ultra Classic Electra Glide has more accessory catalog items than an owner could ever afford to throw at the bike separately. We counted aimost 40 chrome, billet or Stealth Collection items listed as standard on the bike, it all starts to make that $3 IK sound like a bargain. Of course the bike comes with an exclusive custom paint job available in three combinations: Black Emerald and Majestic Green Pearl, Black Candy Crimson and Charcoal Slate, and Autumn Haze and Vivid Black. The Screamin' Eagle V-Rod returns for 2006, and trust us when we say that this is one hell of a fun bike. This bike can leap off the line at the drag strip like a scaled cat and will embarrass quite a few sportbikes along the way. The bike features a big-bore I250cc version of the liquid-cooled Revolution motor and puts out around I30 horsepower and 86 ft.-Ibs. of torque. In addition to the larger pistons, the cylinder heads and cam timing have been optimized for improved flow. One of the coolest features on the Screamin' Eagle V-Rod is the standard 240mm rear tire mount- ed on AUGUST 17, 2005 • CYCLE NEWS an arley-Davidson has built quite a reputation the past couple of years with Its Screamln' EaateJVance Hines Pro-Stoek drag bike In the NHRA, but now It wants to make an impression at the grassroots level as well, In 2006, the AlIHarley Drag Racing Association (AHDRA) will have a dedicated spec class for the Screamln' Eagle V-Rod Destroyer, the most radical bike Harley-Davidson has ever offered for sale.
