Daniele Veghini: Girls Can Riae, Too
Twenty-nine-year old Daniele Veghini
became the IOth woman to race the
Suzuka 8 Hours. Based outside of Venice,
Italy, Veghini's team raced an Aprilia RSV
Mille R to finish 43rd overall and win the
SST class.
Italy. I was the first woman to win this
championship, and I was the only woman
challenging for it. Now I am leading the
women's European championship and I am
second in the women's Italian championship against 40 other riders.
en: Can you explain how you got
started racing motorcycles?
danieleveghlni: When 1was a child, my
father was a motorcycle racer, and he started my racing career. Istarted racing when
I was 4 years old on a minicross bike.
Then, from 6 to 14 years old I raced in
motocross championships. From 15 years
old until now, I have been road racing. For
the last two years I have been the official
Aprilia rider in the women's Italian road
racing championship and the women's
European road racing championship. My
father wasn't a great racer but, yeah, sure,
he was a good father.
en: What were the events that led
you to be racing In the B Hours?
danieleveghini: This year I have been
doing well in my championships. Aprilia
and Motociclismo gave me the chance to
be in the Suzuka 8 Hours. This year, Aprilia
are competing in the World Endurance
