point lap to occupy the third-place position, one point better than Ie Riche in fourth. Webb finished the first lap with 21 points after suffering a big crash on the giant wall in section I I, a 12foot, straight-up wall with virtually no run at it. The Sherco-rider hit the obstacle flat-out in third gear but looped out at the top and landed on his ankle at the bottom of the climb. After wrapping it and resting for an hour, Webb rejoined the competition. The second lap was disastrous for Aaron, as he dropped to third in the running after taking a pair of fives and a three in the sections, which were now starting to get more slippery. However, in typical Aaron form, a brilliant final lap moved him into a tie with Florin for the overall win. Aaron's 24 cleans, verses 23 for Florin, gave him the edge in the tiebreaker and the win. The disappointed Florin finished second, while Wineland claimed the final step of the podium. After the Vermont round, Aaron holds an insurmountable lead in the standings, but the second-place position is still a battle between Ie Riche and Florin, with Florin holding a three-point lead over Ie Riche with the two New York rounds still to go. Webb remains a distant fourth. eN HIGHGATE, VERMONT 30-31, 2005 9-10 OF 12) RESULTS: JULY (ROUNDS Saturday PRO: I. Chris Florin (28); 2. Bruce Ie Riche (34): 3. Geoff Aaron (39); 4.
