o ound 10 of the third annual AHA Southem
f'AU-Stars MX Tour at lazy River MX did
double·duty as one of three Women's
Motocross Association warmup rounds, in
preparation for the 200S WMA Cup event to
be held this November in Texas. Riders from
eight states area turned out. Racing conditions
were excellent and, as usual, track owners
Greg and Vickie Roberts provided exceptional
hospitality and a smoothly run program.
The WMA portion of the program offered
six classes. two of which are also part of the
SAS series. Team Suzuki's leah Cantrell made a
strong impression: She topped the I25cc-Open
division, ahead of Florida resident Bridget
Prevatte, and then went on to edge American
Honda's Stefy Bau in the Women's Pro division.
Cantrell pocketed the lion's share of the $1000
Women's Pro purse. Shelby Dorsey won both
the Women's 6S-1 OSee (9-1 S) and Women's
Supermini classes. ahead of Natalia Cline.
In the regular SAS classes, two of the day's
standout performances were turned in by
Auston Albers and Josh Burdett, both of whom
started racing again this past April after extended
absences. Albers has been out of action due to
injury. Burdett, along with his brother David, has
been away from racing for more than two years,
in part to save up money for new bikes.
In the opening moto of the tough 125cc B
division, Albers started in about eighth but
charged back to a second-place finish, behind
Tyler Home. In moto two, the Suzuki/Yamaha

th a predictability that rivaled the
evening's sunset. Arcn Harvey again
blazed to six moto wins at round six of the MX
West Summer Nights Series, marking the third
consecutive race in the series at which he's
topped three divisions. Harvey's wins in the
Schoolboy, I25cc Intermediate and 250cc Intermediate classes were some of his final prepara-
tions for this summer's Amateur National tour,
in which he will compete for an AMA National
title at Loretta Lynn's Tennessee ranch in
August. And judging from the consistency and
speed Harvey showed throughout the night, it
could be a very good summer for the Carson
City rider.
"I just wanted to try to put my head down
and catch the Pros:' Harvey said after running
down many of the Pro-class riders who started
on the gate before him throughout the
evening. "I wanted to work on some stuff for

of Dalton/MSR-backed Albers got away at third
and soon went past race leader Home for the
moto win, netting the gold.
Albers returned in the 2S0cc B class,
launching his new 4S0cc Suzuki to a perfect
score.
Horne came back to win the 12Scc
Schoolboy division.
Burdett won all four motos in the fierce
I25cc and Unlimited Amateur (16-24) classes
aboard his Outdoor Powersports-backed
Kawasaki. Brandon Barnes kept the pressure
on Burdett from second spot in both classes.
In 8Scc (14-1 S) and Supermini action,
Capitol Cycle's Derek Rogers swept to perfect
scores and made it look easy. Meanwhile, in
the 8Scc (9-1 3) and 8Scc (12-13) divisions,
SYD teammates Sean Cunningham and Matt
Bell had a close match. Cunningham emerged
victorious both times.
Pro Element/Motosport Honda's Trenton
McMichen dominated the 85cc (7-11) class
with a pair of solid mota wins. Cameron
Cabrera was second in mota one but was
sidelined with injuries in a second-moto spill.
Alabama's Kyle Gibson posted 3-2 finishes to
claim the sitver.
Tommy Martin got a couple of good starts
and a couple of midpack starts, but when the
checkered came out for the Over 30 and Over
35 classes, Martin was the winner every time.
After a day-long battle, Bobby Wilson won
both motos ahead of Chuck Palmer in the
Over 40 contest.
Alex Viquez of Florida romped to a fourmoto sweep in the 12Scc and 250cc A classes.
Loretta's, because it's coming up quick and I
need to be ready."
Behind Harvey, Cameron Bellamy proved to
be the fastest among the rest of the
Intennediates, claiming solid second-place finishes
in both the I25cc and 250cc divisions. Bryan
Rodgers scored third in the I25cc race, and Nate
Vandennade did likewise in the 250cc race.
In Pro action, Nick Baugh topped all four
motos of the 125cc and 250cc Pro contests.
Baugh rode a borrowed Yamaha in the 12Scc
race but raced confidently to the front on the
unfamiliar machine. The story was much the
same in the 250cc race, except Baugh then took
the win on his familiar K.X250. Like Harvey,
Baugh was also in preparation for a national
event, putting in his final race before he will try
to qualify for the 2SOcc final at the lakewood,
Colorado, AMA National.
The 65cc class saw one of the finest battles
of the night, when brothers Ty and Aaron
Siminoe engaged each other in the final Super
65cc moto. Ty, the younger of the two, grabbed
the lead early, as Aaron worked his way up
from a midpack start. Once in second, Aaron
pressured his brother throughout the final two
laps, but Ty answered by using smart lines and a
steady pace to take the mota and overall wins
via a 2-1 posting. Aaron's 1-2 tally earned
