Kawasaki's Roger Lee Hayden won his second Supersport race of the year. But it was his older brother Tommy who had the best day. Two weeks after breaking a bone in his right hand in the Superstock race at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca, and days after thinking he couldn't ride, Tommy hounded his little brother to second on a sultry afternoon at the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course. The result meant he lost minimal points in the chase for what he hopes to be a second consecutive Supersport championship. "For me, it was as good as a win," Tommy Hayden said. Two days before he left Owensboro, Kentucky, Tommy wasn't sure he could ride. '" couldn't do anything with it [his hand]," he said. Tommy rode his ZX-6RR as little as possible early in the weekend and opted out of the Superstock class. Top 10 was the best he was hoping for on Saturday.
